Legal information
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Four documents govern the use of steadyscope.online. Each is written for this site specifically rather than copied from a template, each states its own effective date at the top, and each is kept consistent with how the site actually works. They are summarised below.
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Sets out everything this site collects, which is a short list: the access logs kept by the hosting provider, the content of emails sent to the published address, and the IP address that reaches Google when the font stylesheet is requested. It opens with an inventory table showing each category, how it reaches the publisher, why, how long it is kept, who it goes to and where. It then covers anonymity, purpose, retention, disclosure, overseas recipients, security, access and correction, complaints and data breach notification, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and sets out the position for readers in the EU, EEA and the United Kingdom.
Cookie Policy
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Explains that this site sets no cookies of any kind and uses no browser storage, and therefore shows no consent banner — a banner would ask you to agree to something that does not happen. It includes a storage audit table listing each technology and whether it is used, covers what the Google Fonts request does involve, describes what happens on other companies' sites after an affiliate link is followed, explains how to clear cookies in a browser generally, and commits to publishing an updated policy with a working consent mechanism before any cookie is ever set.
Terms of Use
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Covers the basis on which the answers are published: they are general information rather than professional or security advice, and they are not a substitute for a technician or for the Australian Cyber Security Centre. It also deals with third-party sites, product details that change, the limits of the publisher's liability so far as the Australian Consumer Law permits, and the governing law.
Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 8 October 2026
States that SteadyScope is paid a commission when a reader follows one of its affiliate links and buys a subscription, that the reader's price is unchanged, and that the commission does not decide which questions appear on the site or what the answers say. It explains what does decide that, identifies the product involved, includes the trademark notice, and links to the editorial method described on the About page.
