Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 8 October 2026
1. The arrangement, in one paragraph
SteadyScope carries paid affiliate links. One security product is named on this site — Norton AntiVirus Plus — and where it appears, the link to it goes through an affiliate network. If you follow that link and buy a subscription, the network pays a commission to the publisher, DONAU LOGISTICS - výroba obalů a balení s.r.o. The commission is paid per sale. You pay the vendor exactly what you would have paid had you typed the vendor's address into your browser yourself; no part of the commission is added to your price, and following the link gives you neither a discount nor a surcharge.
2. Which links are paid
Only the links to Norton AntiVirus Plus. Every one of them is marked at the point where it appears, with a line of text immediately beside the link saying that it is a paid affiliate link and that a commission is paid on purchases made after following it. Each opens in a new tab and carries the markup that search engines use to recognise paid links.
Every other link on this site is unpaid. That includes all links to Australian government agencies — the Australian Cyber Security Centre, Scamwatch, the eSafety Commissioner, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Classification Board — none of which have any relationship with this site, commercial or otherwise, and none of which have reviewed or approved anything published here.
3. What the commission does not decide
It does not decide which questions are published. It does not decide what the answers say. It does not decide which answer comes first on a page, and it has not caused any answer to be softened, shortened or left out.
The practical test of that claim is on the pages themselves. Several answers on this site conclude that a paid product has no bearing on the problem at all: a full hard drive, a loud fan, a browser full of extensions, a subscription that renewed at a higher price, a device past its support date. Those conclusions are stated plainly, with no link attached, because attaching one would be dishonest. Where a paid subscription genuinely is one of the options a reader might weigh, the answer says so, and the free option is always described first.
4. What does decide the content
Three things, in this order. First, what people actually ask — the questions are written in the words readers use when something has gone wrong, and are grouped by situation rather than by product. Second, whether a useful answer can be given without seeing the reader's device; where it cannot, the page says so and points to someone who can help. Third, whether the answer can be given free of charge; the cost-free course of action is set out before any paid one on every page of this site.
The full description of how questions are chosen, how answers are checked against official sources, and how often each page is revised is published as the editorial method on the About page.
5. What the publisher does and does not know about you
The affiliate network reports to the publisher in aggregate: how many purchases were attributed to this site in a period, and the commission payable. Those reports are used only to reconcile payments. The publisher does not receive, request or want information identifying individual readers, and this site collects nothing about you in the first place — there is no form, no account, no cookie and no analytics anywhere on it. The privacy policy sets that out in full, and the cookie policy explains why no consent banner appears.
Once you follow an affiliate link you are on somebody else's website, and the vendor and the affiliate network may set cookies on their own domains to record the referral. That happens under their notices, not this site's.
6. What is not claimed about the product
SteadyScope is not the official site for Norton AntiVirus Plus, is not a reseller, is not authorised by the vendor, and is not a source of support for the product. It does not describe the product's features, its coverage or its price, because those are set by the vendor, change over time, and are only accurate on the vendor's own pages. Nothing on this site is presented as a review, a rating, a test result or a comparison of detection performance; no testing is carried out here and none is quoted.
If you want to look at the product, the link below is the paid one, and it is the same link used everywhere else on the site. Visit the Norton AntiVirus Plus websitePaid affiliate link. A purchase made after following it earns the publisher a commission from the affiliate network that operates the link; your price is unchanged.
7. Australian consumer law
Misleading or deceptive conduct in trade or commerce is prohibited in Australia under the Australian Consumer Law, and that prohibition applies to the publisher of this site as it applies to any other business. This disclosure exists because an undisclosed commercial relationship on a page that reads as advice would be exactly that. Information about the law and about your rights as a consumer is published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
8. Trademarks
Trademarks: Norton AntiVirus Plus and the other product names, logos and brands on this site are owned by their respective owners. Other than the paid affiliate links explained in our disclosure, SteadyScope is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
