Cookie Policy
Effective date: 8 October 2026
steadyscope.online does not set cookies. It does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, it carries no tracking pixel, and it attempts no fingerprinting. The only request your browser makes to another company is for the font stylesheet and font files from Google Fonts, and that request sets no cookie on this site. Everything below explains that position in more detail, including the one thing that does happen — the access log kept by our hosting provider — and what changes once you follow an affiliate link to somebody else's website.
Storage audit
| Technology | Used on this site? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| First-party cookies | No | This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no session, no preference and no identifier to store. |
| Third-party cookies | No | No third party is permitted to run code on this site, so none can set a cookie through it. |
| localStorage | No | The site's JavaScript does not read from or write to it. |
| sessionStorage | No | Not used. Opening and closing a question leaves nothing behind. |
| IndexedDB | No | Not used. No database is created in your browser. |
| Tracking pixels | No | There is no analytics, advertising, social or conversion pixel anywhere on the site. |
| Browser fingerprinting | No | No script collects device characteristics to build an identifier. |
| Web fonts | Yes | Typefaces load from Google Fonts. Your browser sends your IP address to Google to fetch them. No cookie is set on this site by that request. |
| Server access logs | Yes | Our hosting provider records each request — IP address, time, page, referring page, user-agent string — and keeps it for 30 days. |
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store and to send back on later visits, which is how a site recognises a returning browser. Similar technologies do the same job by other means: localStorage and sessionStorage keep data in the browser directly, IndexedDB does so in a structured database, a tracking pixel is a tiny invisible image whose only purpose is to cause a request to a third party, and fingerprinting combines ordinary technical details into something distinctive enough to act as an identifier.
2. Why none of them are here
This site is a set of articles. There is nothing to sign in to, no preference to remember, nothing in a basket, and no measurement of readers taking place, so there is nothing for a cookie to do. No cookie is set by us, and because no outside company runs any code on these pages, nobody can set one through this site either. There is no analytics package, no advertising tag, no social network button, no embedded video player and no session identifier.
3. Why there is no consent banner
A consent banner exists to ask permission for storage that would otherwise be placed on your device. No such storage is placed here, so a banner would be asking you to agree to something that does not happen. Displaying one anyway would be misleading, and it would also train readers to dismiss a prompt without reading it, which is a habit worth not encouraging.
4. What does happen when you load a page
Two things. First, our hosting provider records the request in an access log: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the user-agent string. Those entries are kept for 30 days and are used for security and fault diagnosis. Second, your browser requests the typefaces from Google Fonts, which necessarily discloses your IP address to Google together with technical details of the request. That request does not pass through our servers and does not set a cookie on steadyscope.online. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. The privacy policy for this site covers both in full.
5. Storage and identification technologies that are absent
As the table above records, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, tracking pixels and fingerprinting are each answered with "No". The site's only JavaScript is a short first-party file that opens the navigation menus, shows and hides the list of questions on narrow screens, and expands the question accordion. It is unminified and can be read at /js/site.js; it contains no storage calls and makes no network requests.
6. What changes when you follow an affiliate link
Some links on this site are paid affiliate links. Following one takes you to a website operated by somebody else — the Norton AntiVirus Plus vendor, by way of the affiliate network that operates the link. Those sites commonly do set cookies on their own domains, in order to record which site referred you so that a commission can be attributed. Those cookies are set by them, on their domains, under their own cookie and privacy notices. DONAU LOGISTICS - výroba obalů a balení s.r.o. does not control them, cannot read them, and recommends reading the notices on those sites if you want to know what they do.
7. Clearing and blocking cookies generally
Even though this site sets none, every browser lets you manage cookies set by sites that do. The controls live in the browser's settings, usually under a heading such as privacy, security or site permissions. From there you can delete all stored cookies, delete the cookies for one particular site, block third-party cookies by default, block all cookies, or have everything cleared automatically each time you close the browser. On a phone the same options exist in the browser app's own settings rather than in the operating system settings. Blocking all cookies will stop some sites from working, which is why blocking third-party cookies while allowing first-party ones is the more common compromise.
8. If this ever changes
If a cookie or any similar storage technology is ever introduced to this site, this page will be rewritten first to describe exactly what it is, who sets it, what it is for and how long it lasts, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before anything is stored on your device. Nothing will be set in advance of that. The effective date at the top of this page will change on the day any such revision takes effect.
